"Hope deferred makes the heart sick
but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life."
Proverbs 13:12 NLT

In 2017, the words REMOVED, PLACED, and CARE, had life changing meaning to thousands of Texas children.

In 2017, over 63,000 children were confirmed victims of child maltreatment in Texas; this represents an 8 percent increase from 2016. Of these children, almost 50% (30,532 children) were under the age of 5.

Out of the 174,740 cases of child abuse and neglect Texas DFPS (Department of Family and Protective Services) investigated, more than 24,000 cases were opened for family preservation services and approximately 9,100 cases resulted in children being removed from their families and placed in substitute care.

Divinity believes strongly that children who have been REMOVED should be PLACED with relative caregivers when it is possible and safe. Thus, we invest significant time and resources to support kinship caregivers to successfully fulfill their mission to care for relative children. Learn more about kinship care

When it is not possible for children to be placed with friends or family members, Child Protective Services (CPS) seeks an unrelated foster family. Divinity provides HOPE by licensing TBRI trained, safe, and loving foster families. Would you like to be equipped to meet the needs of children who need HOPE and HEALING? The goal for children placed in substitute CARE is to be reunified with their parents, but when this does not happen, another permanent living arrangement is needed. Related or unrelated caregivers may seek to adopt.  Learn more about adoption
